Marathon
postie delivers for Hospital Radio Maidstone
A Royal Mail employee who took part in this year's London
Marathon has donated his sponsorship money to Hospital
Radio Maidstone.
Graham
Clarkson presented a cheque for £222.50 to the charity's
chairman Phil Still. Graham completed the course in two
hours, 55 minutes - his personal best on his sixth and
final London Marathon.
Mr
Clarkson said: "It's 25 years since my first London
Marathon and I'm pleased to complete my final one in the
quickest time. I chose to donate to Hospital Radio Maidstone
because of the volunteers who give up their time to entertain
the patients and staff. All the volunteers at Maidstone
General are unsung heroes and I'm delighted to keep something
back to the local community."
HRM
chairman Phil Still said: "Like all charities we
rely on donations and I'm very grateful to Graham for
his contribution. This will help us to maintain and develop
our service to the Maidstone General in our anniversary
year."
HRM
is celebrating its 45th year of broadcasting Maidstone's
hospital. Back in 1963, Graham Norman started the service
by compiling tapes of patients requests. Today more than
30 volunteer presenters and computer technology provide
a 24 hour, seven day a week service to Maidstone General
Hospital.
