Richard produces a series of programmes for HRM called “The A To Z Of Pop”

Starting with Nottingham Hospitals Radio in the late 1980’s, he worked at the community station Radio Robin as station manager before moving further north in 2001.

Following a serious road accident in 2003, Richard set about producing a number of programmes for hospital radio stations across the UK from his studio at home.

In 2024 he was was honoured with the prestigious John Whitney Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hospital Radio from the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), the national association which represents hospital broadcasting across the UK. 

Richard says “I get real enjoyment from producing these shows and also receive some lovely feedback from stations and listeners alike. In a way, it’s my way of giving something back for the care and life-saving attention I received whilst in a hospital bed as a patient back in 2003.“
